July Forum: Water Efficiency
Water is one of our most important, but often overlooked, natural resources. Our July forum will be focused on several different facets of water efficiency. Our moderator-led line-up of speakers will talk about: Hydrology and it’s connection to water conservation on large-scale development projects, water efficiency solutions at the multi-family and individual level, and green roofs and the water-related benefits they can provide.
Date: Wednesday, July 18, 2012
Time: 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Location: TOTO USA NYC Showroom, 25 Mercer St. (between Canal and Grand), Manhattan, NY 10013
Please RSVP here.

Our speakers are:
James Moore of Water Management, Inc.
James has been with Water Management, Inc since 2011 and is currently responsible for managing and growing their business for the Northeast region. As regional manager, Jamie also manages all day to day activities for successful development and implementation of water, steam and solar projects.
Joseph Schaffer of JFS Engineering:
Joe Schaffer is a licensed professional civil engineer and LEED-AP, specializing in land development and water resources engineering. He has designed residential/commercial development and infrastructure along the East Coast from New Hampshire to Florida and regularly participates in design competitions worldwide. He has produced effective and efficient permitting, utility, and storm water management solutions for complex scenarios, ranging from undeveloped to highly urbanized sites and small (<1 acre) to large (>100 acres) projects.
Brendan Shea of Recover Green Roofs, LLC:
Brendan’s career is grounded in over ten years of experience working for the New England representative of Clivus Multrum, specializing in innovative, onsite wastewater engineering. A LEED accredited professional, Brendan has worked on over a dozen LEED projects and has extensive experience with project management and design/build implementation. His projects include designing and building indoor greywater recycling and aerobic blackwater treatment systems, which address structural support, system integration, waterproofing, drainage and plant vitality — the fundamentals of green roofs. His natural transition into the green roof industry allows Brendan to combine his passion for plants with his knowledge of water engineering.
Our forum moderator will be Gunnar Baldwin:
Gunnar Baldwin was educated at Yale and Brown Universities and taught mathematics for 16 years. He left teaching to pursue his interest in water conservation and wastewater reduction in 1976. He started with TOTO in 1990 when they first opened a subsidiary in the USA after working for their importer for several years and lobbying for legislation and incentives for water efficient plumbing fixtures. He served on the ANSI Vitreous China standard committee until TOTO USA was formed and has served in numerous roles at TOTO during its sixteen year history and is now TOTO’s Water Efficiency Specialist. He represents the company on several green building committees including the USGBC’s WETAG, and has recently been appointed a director of the Alliance for Water Efficiency.
