About Us
A community-oriented, volunteer-run organization, GreenHomeNYC’s mission is to promote an energy efficient and sustainable built environment and to support green professional development in New York City. The organization provides sustainability information to the general public and technical education to advance sustainability careers through a diverse array of programming, events, peer-to-peer mentoring and networking opportunities. GreenHomeNYC is a New York State registered, 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit corporation.
Our board members include Lucie Dupas (President), Jim Henderson, Katie Schwamb (Treasurer), Gahl Spanier and Gregory Thomas (Secretary). For full descriptions, please see our Board Member Page.
GreenHomeNYC was founded in 2002 by Bomee Jung, Aaron Yowell and Josh Radoff. More than 150 volunteers have managed our day-to-day programs over the years.
Past board members include Laura Adelman, Michelle Andry, Warren Berger, Jordan Bonomo, Mark Caserta, Philip Eddy, Greg Elcock, Cat Fitzgerald, Robert Gardella, Jean Hamerman, Alexandra Hanson, Gita Nandan, Alison Novak, Ariella Rosenberg, Maron, Andrew Padian, Asit Patel, Lesley Patrick, Dan Rieber, Laurie Schoeman, Evan Mason, Tom Sahagian, and Paul Reale.
Cat Fitzgerald served as Executive Director from 2004 – 2011, Erik Nevala-Lee served as Program Coordinator from 2008 – 2011, and Shai Lauros served as the Executive Director from 2011 – 2012.
